Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Cohabitation collects, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have when using the app.
Last updated: May 31, 2026
1. Information we collect
We collect account information such as email address, authentication provider, profile name, avatar, phone number if provided, and account status.
We collect profile and housing information such as age range, school or work, intent, lifestyle preferences, budget, neighborhoods, move-in date, stay duration, bio, listings, photos, and availability details.
We collect communications and support information such as messages, reports, reviews, feedback, crash reports, and any information you choose to send to us.
2. Usage, device, and security data
We may collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, app events, request logs, error logs, rate-limit events, audit logs, and approximate activity timestamps.
This information helps us keep the service secure, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and understand how the product is used.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and manage accounts, authenticate users, complete onboarding, display profiles and listings, support matching, enable messaging, send notifications, and provide customer support.
We also use information to verify accounts, moderate content, investigate reports, enforce rules, improve the app, measure service health, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Email and service communications
We may send transactional emails such as account confirmation, login, security, notification, support, and product-related messages. We use email delivery providers to send these messages.
Marketing emails, if introduced, will include the choices required by applicable law. Transactional and security emails may still be sent when needed to operate your account.
5. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers that help us run Cohabitation, such as authentication, database, hosting, storage, email delivery, security, logging, and infrastructure providers.
We may share information if required by law, to protect users or the public, to investigate abuse, to enforce our Terms, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or reorganization.
6. Visibility to other users
Profile details, listings, photos, preferences, and messages may be visible to other users depending on the feature you use and your account status.
Do not share sensitive information in your profile, listings, or messages unless you are comfortable with the recipient seeing it.
7. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with law, and preserve legitimate business records.
If you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify information where required, unless we need to keep certain records for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including authentication, access controls, logging, and secure service providers.
No online service can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your password, devices, and account access.
9. Your choices and rights
You may update many profile details in the app. You may also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability where those rights apply.
You can choose not to provide optional information, but some features may not work without the information needed to match profiles, display listings, or communicate with other users.
10. International transfers
Cohabitation and its providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Data protection laws may differ from those in your location.
When required, we use appropriate safeguards to support lawful transfers and processing.
11. Children and minors
Cohabitation is not intended for children. If we learn that we collected information from a child where parental consent is required, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to Cohabitation, contact us through the app support or feedback channels.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy as Cohabitation changes or as legal requirements evolve. The updated version will show a new last updated date.
For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the support or feedback tools available in Cohabitation.
